Patrick Penney, vocals/guitars

Patrick was co-founder of the popular Chicago country band Long Gone Lonesome Boys. During their time together they put out three albums of original material, supported such acts as Country Music Hall of Fame legend Charlie Louvin, Robbie Fulks, The Derailers, Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash, James Intveld, Naomi Ashley and many others, and were the host band for Country Night in Berwyn at the classic Berwyn, IL, nightclub, FitzGerald's. After leaving Chicago for New York he established Country Provisions which for several years played popular Brooklyn venues sharing gigs with such bands as Flor de Toloache, the Bakersfield Breakers, and the Kings County Ramblers. Now living in northern Kentucky, Patrick is happy and fortunate to continue Country Provisions with the fine and versatile musicians, Sol and Kraig.
Sol, upright bass

Sol comes to Country Provisions by way of improvisational psychedelic rock in Ointment and Jacoby Rowed (with Kraig), and cathartic blues rock in Stank Creek. Country Provisions offers him new opportunities: to find the voice of the bull fiddle, to make music in the style of his earliest listening experiences, and to hone and distill songs and phrases with care. The chance to do so with new friend Patrick, and to learn a new approach to performance (all on this side of the big river) scratches an itch and opens a Friday Door. He can often be found just outside of Yellow Springs, OH, on a much smaller river... rinsing off the week's urbanity, soaking up simplicity, and listening to sounds people don't make.
Kraig Aukerman, drums/percussion

As a young guy Kraig gave up drumming for athletics, and stayed with it through college. A medical sciences career focused on helping others lead him to New Mexico, before he returned home to southwest Ohio to raise a family and be closer to his parents. Following his parent's footsteps, he started a new career teaching Math and thus found himself to be part of the Yellow Springs community. There he met musician friends Tim and Sol who invited him to drum, and it was a ball! He continued playing with a passion and re-discovered that drumming was the perfect intersection of athletic agility, mathematical patterns, and musical expression. The unexpected opportunity to join Country Provisions makes this feel like a time to explore and fulfill new aspirations.
